On the advice of our friend and pastor Bill, we stopped for frozen custard at Ted Drewe's Frozen Custard in St. Louis. That place was so hopping that the had a guy in the parking lot directing traffic. But for good reason -- they sling some seriously delicious frozen custard. Thanks for the recommendation, Bill.
We are camped out in a Holiday Inn just south of the city, and this place is kickin' it old-school, with a "Holidome" indoor courtyard featuring a pool deck and game area that hasn't been touched since about 1983. Keith and I duked it out over Ms. Pacman while the kids tore through quarters playing air hockey and pinball. Sweet!
This is the last night of our 2013 trek, and we are limping to the finish line, folks. Tomorrow we'll see the Gateway Arch, then bolt for Lafayette. Our steam ran out sometime between Austin and Hot Springs, and now we're pretty much pushing through stuff so that we can get home. My original itinerary had us spending tonight and tomorrow somewhere on the Buffalo National River in northern Arkansas, but we're skipping over that. I figure the river has dried up, anyway. I haven't done laundry since San Antonio, and Charlie has been wearing the same shorts for the last -- I don't even know how long. And at this point, I don't even care.
