Day Three -- VDL

Day 3 – Vermilion Dam Lodge
What a stunningly beautiful Northwoods day: a cloudless sky, warm sun and a slight, cool breeze. If only every day of our vacation could be this breathtakingly gorgeous.
The kids spent the morning fishing off the dock – catching sunnies just as fast as they could get their lines in the water. Clare even caught a smallmouth bass! I didn’t get a chance to get a line in myself – I was too busy untangling lines, hooking bait and releasing the fish. I’m pleased that Natalie doesn’t mind handling the nightcrawlers and leaches, but she doesn’t want to touch the fish to get them off her line, yet.
We spent the afternoon at the beach, watching the kids piddle around in the kayaks, and then at the pool. Ahhh, vacation.
Oh—Keith had someone look at the trailer. They took the jack apart, hammered on it for a while, and deduced that it cannot be fixed. The good news is that it’s a very common trailer part – especially in a region that’s lousy with boat trailers, boat dealerships and marinas. So, we’ve got that going for us. Keith’s going to make a couple calls in the morning; hopefully we’ll have the new part by Wednesday or Thursday.

  1. Look at it this way - you got the car incident out of the way very early.

    Have a great time!
